Holiday caravan 2022
Led by Ryan Fitzgerald and Rich Gedman, two phenomenal members of the WooSox Foundation, the second annual “WooSox Foundation Holiday Caravan” visited charities in the commonwelath spreading holiday cheer. Smiley Ball, Woofster, and Mr. And Mrs. Claus all joined Fitzgerald and Gedman throughout December 19th through December 21st 2022. Special thank you to Sam Horn, former Red Sox slugger, and Kevin Lemanowicz, Boston 25 Chief Meteorologist, for joining us!
why me sherry's house
The Holiday Caravan was kicked off at Why Me Sherry’s House, where families are supported in coping with childhood cancer. We brought holiday gifts, essentials, and lots of cheer!
TLK Sports
Next stop was TLK Sports, at TLK they focus on helping youth athletes grow and develop and is dedicated to creating access and opportunities for underserved youth. The WooSox Foundation played basketball with the kids after school and had a blast! All of the kids were gifted with Nike socks, Gatorade water bottles, sweat bands, brand-new basketballs, and WooSox Foundation T-shirts!
St. Johns Food For The Poor
The second day of the Care-A-Van started right down the street from Polar Park at St. Johns Food For the Poor. The Foundation staff helped cook and serve breakfast for all of the guests at St. Johns.
McAuley Nazareth Home
To cap off the first night of the Holiday Caravan the WooSox went to McAuley Nazareth Home joined by the Jr. WooSox and brought presents and pizza!
Abby's House
The next stop was spreading some neighborly cheer to Abby’s House. Abby’s House provides shelter, housing, and advocacy for women with and without children that are in need of their services. We brought many household essentials, activities, hygiene products, as well as some WooSox gear!
UMass Memorial Health
The Care-A-Van traveled up North to UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center, where care packages filled with toys, books, and everyday essentials went to kids who are in treatment. For the second straight year, the Foundation has partnered with Kits for Kids, a Marlborough based organization that has provided care packages around the holidays to children in need for over 13 years.
Guild of St. Agnes
The next stop was with the Worcester Education Collaborative, where together we donated tablets and keyboards to children at the Guild of St. Agnes in Worcester. The kids shared holiday projects and many cheers for Smiley and Woofster!
YMCA Central Community Branch
The Care-A-Van headed to the YMCA Central Community Branch with gift cards and WooSox swag to end day two of the voyage. The YMCA kids brought their A-game to a pick-up basketball game against the WooSox Foundation staff and emerged victorious!
Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School
The WooSox started the last day of the voyage at Abby Kelley Foster Elementary School bringing everyone WooSox school kits.
Pepperell
The WooSox traveled all the way up North to Pepperell to visit a dear friend of the team battling cancer. We saw her school and paid her a special visit with gifts and she got some one-on-one time with her favorite player Ryan Fitzgerald.
Gates Lane Elementry School
The last stop of the Holiday Care-A-Van was Gates Lane Elementary School, where the club established a mentoring program this past March 4 in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Massachusetts.
